DR MARKO VON DER LEYEN, POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW, AWAKE2

I started my DPhil in Peter’s group in October 2017 as a member of University College. I graduated with a DPhil in 2021 and am currently a post-doctoral research fellow, with day-to-day supervision responsibilities. Currently, I am researching novel injection mechanisms in wakefield accelerators using high-power laser systems, large-scale computer clusters and applied reinforcement learning methods. Furthermore, I am part of the AWAKE UK consortium where I work on developing a diagnostic to measure wakefield amplitudes. I was elected non-stipendiary Post-Doctoral Research Assistant to University College, starting March 2023. My Master's thesis studied the dependence of energy confinement time on energy losses due to edge localised modes in the ASDEX Upgrade tokamak at the Max-Planck-Institute for Plasma Physics. I have degrees in Technical Physics and Instrumental Performance (Clarinet).
