DR ROBERT PADDOCK, POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW

I am now a post-doc in Peter’s group, working on the next-generation of high-power lasers for applications including inertial fusion energy. Before then, I started my DPhil studies in October 2019 in the group, after graduating with a Master’s degree from the University of Bath.

My DPhil thesis is titled ‘a study of foams for inertial confinement fusion’, and was completed in July 2023. This included large scale simulation campaigns of ‘wetted-foam’ ICF capsules, along with an experiment using the VULCAN laser facility at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory to measure compression data of fusion-relevant foams.
