HEATH MARTIN, DHIL ATOMIC AND LASER PHYSICS

I finished my undergraduate degree at Oxford in 2022, joining the group to start my DPhil a few months later. Since then, I have devoted the majority of my time to investigating the electrothermal instability and its implications in ICF implosions. The electrothermal instability is an effect that causes temperature perturbations in electron currents to grow, and is a potential cause of the recent unexpected behaviour observed in the fusing ions within capsules shot at the NIF.

I am enrolled on the Computational Discovery CDT, a collaboration between Oxford University and IBM Research with the aim to bolster students' research with computational techniques.
